Yerry Mina leads Everton trio leaving the Premier League club

Everton have announced that three players are set to leave this club with their contracts expiring this summer but they have offered deals to two more.

For the second year in a row it was far from a stress free campaign for Everton as they had to scrap for their Premier League survival.

Once again it was confirmed at Goodison Park that they were staying up with Sean Dyche’s side having to win on the final day of the season to secure their spot in the top tier.

The win sparked scenes with fans rushing onto the pitch to celebrate avoiding relegation for the first time since 1951, which certainly split opinion.

Now it’s Dyche’s challenge to make sure that there are no more close calls for the club in the near future, especially with their new stadium planned to open next year.

And now the club have revealed that Yerry Mina, Andros Townsend and Asmir Begovic will leave the club at the end of the month, with Seamus Coleman and Tom Davies having been offered new deals.

“We wish all of them the best with the next chapters in their careers,” Everton director of football Kevin Thelwell said in a statement.

“We have also offered new contracts to players and we will continue talking with them as we look to build a competitive squad for (manager) Sean Dyche and his staff for the new season.”

Mina had been expected to leave when the campaign was over and the defender was extremely important for the run in, after missing 14 games through injury earlier in the season.

Fans will be relieved to see Coleman’s name on the retained list with earlier fears the right back had played his final game for the club.

At 34-years-old there were fears that the Irishman wouldn’t be able to get back onto the pitch but talk of a new contract will come as a boost.
