Amos Pieper has played his last game for Werder Bremen this season. The Bundesliga club have confirmed today that the 25-year-old centre-back will miss the remainder of the season due to ankle surgery.

“Losing Amos for the last few games is really disappointing, but an operation is necessary due to his ongoing ankle problem,,” said head coach Ole Werner.

“Amos has been available over the last few weeks despite his problems and we have delayed the operation. However, after talking to him we have now decided to let him have the operation

Pieper made 29 Bundesliga appearances for SVW in his first season with the club, scoring two goals. He also played two matches in the DFB-Pokal.
