Watch Jordan Henderson and Alisson appear to engage in heated confrontation, Liverpool fans are divided

Jordan Henderson and Liverpool teammate Alisson appeared to exchange a heated war of words during a tense confrontation in the Reds’ 0-0 draw against Chelsea.

Liverpool dropped crucial points in their quest for a top-four Premier League finish, with neither the Reds nor Chelsea able to break the deadlock at Stamford Bridge.

Jurgen Klopp has been heavily criticised over Liverpool’s poor run of form, with the Reds’ hopes of securing Champions League football next season quickly fading.

Henderson and Alisson appeared to have a heated standoff in the Chelsea match on Tuesday evening, with footage from their confrontation making the rounds on social media.

The visibly frustrated 32-year-old midfielder could be seen trading verbal blows with Alisson, who also appeared to not hold back with his own response.

Henderson could be seen barging into the Liverpool No 1 after their initial exchange, which prompted Alisson to turn around and appear to say something to his teammate.

Liverpool fans were far from happy with Henderson’s approach towards Alisson and furiously slammed the Reds skipper on social media.

“Take the armband off him, he’s finished,” one fan said.

While another wrote: “The team is too disconnected. Needs a real leader. Give someone else the armband.”

“I would sacrifice top four if it meant we lost Henderson, I’m being so serious,” a third added.

Someone else tweeted: “Worst player on the team hyping up to the best player in the squad.”

A Twitter user posted: “Should be sent to the reserves for this. Disgusting behaviour from the ‘captain.’”

While a sixth commented: “Get this loser out of this club.”

Despite some Liverpool fans brutally criticising Henderson, other supporters were quick to defend him and believe the England star was well in his right as captain.

“He is the captain of Liverpool Football Club,” a Twitter user said in response to the footage.

Another wrote: “The captain?”

“He’s the captain,” a third posted.

And a fourth tweeted: “How dare the captain of a club demand more from his players?”

While another commented: “Our fans are a disgrace, he’s the only captain in the club’s history to lift a PL.”
