DFB sporting director Rudi Völler has confirmed his intention to retire after the World Cup in 2026.

Rudi Völler has confirmed that he is planning to step down as Germany sporting director following the World Cup in 2026.

“For me, in fact, 2026 is the top. I truly needed to cease now,” Völler mentioned in an interview with Bild. 

The previous Leverkusen boss postponed his departure till 2026 to ship a sign to Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann. 

“By extending my contract, I additionally needed to set an instance for Julian,” mentioned Völler. 

Völler took over as sporting director at first of 2023.
