Former World No. 1 and five time Wimbledon singles champion Venus Williams is set to return to the WTA this summer after a lengthy hiatus.

Wild World: No. 2 Medvedev Falls in Paris

The all-time great will return at the upcoming grass court event at the Libéma Open in ’s-Hertogenbosch which starts on June 12th.

Currently ranked World No. 701, the 42-year-old Williams has not played on tour since reaching the Auckland second round in January. A hamstring injury she sustained at that event forced her out of the Australian Open and she has not competed since then.

This will be the first time Williams has ever played in the Netherlands. She reached the second round in singles last year in Wimbledon and also competed in the mixed doubles event.

It’s highly expected that Williams will receive a wildcard into this year’s ladies’ singles draw at Wimbledon.

Additional players scheduled to compete at ‘s-Hertogenbosch include Victoria Azarenka, Bianca Andreescu, and Belinda Bencic.
