Mumbai Indians Women were on top of their game in the fourth game of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023 as they thrashed Royal Challengers Bangalore Women by 9 wickets consolidating their spot on the top of the points table.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Smriti Mandhana and her side suffered another top-order collapse as the team lost four wickets within the power play. Hayley Matthews was the star of the show for her side as the all-rounder picked up three wickets in the first innings to help Mumbai restrict Bangalore to just 155 runs on the board in 18.4 overs.
However, it did not seem like the West Indian all-rounder was done as Hayley Matthews smacked the RCB-W bowlers all around the park scoring an unbeaten 77 runs off 38 deliveries with the help of 13 fours and a single six to help her side chase down the total in just 14.2 overs.

The West Indian all-rounder was well supported by Nat Sciver who played a quickfire knock of 55 runs off just 29 deliveries as Matthews and Sciver put together an unbeaten 114 runs stand for the second wicket to bag the win.

Mumbai Indians after their big win over Royal Challengers Bangalore remain in the top spot on the points table. Royal Challengers Bangalore on the other hand have now suffered two losses and are in fourth place on the points table, with Gujarat languishing at last place with the lowest net-run rate.

Hayley Matthews has dethroned Shafali Verma on top of the Orange Cap standings after her brilliant knock against Royal Challengers Bangalore and now stands in first place with 124 runs to her name. Fellow Mumbai Indians player Natalie Sciver has also climbed up the ranks and is now in third place with 78 runs in two games.

Saika Ishaque has improved her position and now moved to the top of the standings as the bowler picked up 2 wickets in Bangalore taking her tally to 6. Tara Norris and Kim Garth remain in second and third place with their five-wicket haul in their first games.
