Rajasthan Royals made a stunning return to winning ways as they thrashed Chennai Super Kings by 32 runs in their Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter in Jaipur. After an intense game of bat and ball, the Purple Cap list has seen quite a few changes.
Deshpande challenged the top spot
Tushar Deshpande has been making headlines with his pace and wicket taking ability this season. The right-arm pacer has challenged the likes of Mohammed Siraj and Rashid Khan for the top spot. Deshpande picked up 2 more wickets tonight, which brings his tally to 14 wickets in 8 games. This is the exact number of wickets Mohammed Siraj and Rashid Khan have this season and are at the 1st and 2nd spot respectively.
Had Tushar Deshpande’s economy been a little better, he would have had the top spot to himself but he has the worst economy rate (10.90 runs per over) among all bowlers in the top 10. However, he would be looking forward to bringing it down in the later stages of the game and get on the top of the Purple Cap list. However, it is also worth noting that Deshpande is the only uncapped player in the top 10 list.
Ashwin and Jadeja together
Despite playing for separate teams in the IPL, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin are together on the Purple Cap list. While Ashwin is on the 8th spot with 11 wickets Jadeja is on the 9th spot with the same number of wickets. Yuzvendra Chahal on the other hand went wicketless in today’s game. While Adam Zampa and Ravichandran Ashwin were bowling fire to the CSK batters, Chahal just bowled 2 overs and went for 21 runs. As a result, he has slipped down one spot and is now at the 6th spot with 12 wickets in 8 games.
