Update from Tottenham Hotspur press conference ahead of Man Utd game 27 April

Mason’s objectives are clear, as he returns to a post he occupied for seven games in the spring of 2021.

The 31-year-old lost the Carabao Cup final to Manchester City after replacing Jose Mourinho, but Spurs won four of his six league games in charge to pip Arsenal to a European spot and finish the campaign on a high.

He’s clearly hoping for similar this time around, with Sunday’s visit to Liverpool also on the horizon.

“I think from my point of view at the moment is to get some sort of energy and some sort of positivity back into the group,” he said.

“But not only the group, the fans and the club have to be realistic as well when you have two training sessions/three training sessions before two games.

“It’s hard to change a great deal but I would hope and expect towards the end of the season that everyone, not only inside but outside, will see my stamp and our stamp on the group.”
