Union Berlin are through to the Europa League round of 16 after an impressive play-off victory over Ajax tonight.

After a goalless first leg in Amsterdam, Union Berlin saw off Ajax 3-1 at Stadion an der Alten Försterei.

Robin Knoche broke the deadlock from the penalty spot 20 minutes into the game, with Josip Juranovic doubling the lead just before the break.

Mohamed Kudus pulled one back from Ajax in the beginning of the second half before Juranovic set up Danilho Doekhi for the 3-1 goal.

The win completes a memorable evening for German football, with Bayer Leverkusen also through thanks to a dramatic penalty shoot-out win over Monaco.
