Trent Alexander-Arnold’s latest performance as an inverted right-back once again had fans purring, and he was even compared to Zinedine Zidane.
It has certainly not been a classic season for anyone at Liverpool, with pretty much all their usual top performers getting criticised at some point.
Alexander-Arnold has been right up there in terms of getting stick, with his ability to defend being questioned more than any other spell in his career, which is saying something.
On Wednesday night, the Reds hosted Fulham, looking to continue their slim chances of finishing in the top four, with a sixth straight win.
During the game, Alexander-Arnold pulled off a marvellous moment of skill pirouetting with the ball and leaving Joao Palhinha in his dust.
It certainly had fans of the Anfield side purring, and many were even comparing him to France legend, and World Cup winner, Zinedine Zidane.
“Trent are you Zidane in disguise? That was beautiful,” asked one fan.
“Trent pulling some Zidane pirouettes in midfield. What a player,” added a second.
Another posted the former Real Madrid star’s most famous quote, saying, “Zidane: “I used to skip school just to watch Trent Alexander-Arnold play football.””
One clever son of a gun simply stated, “Trent Alexander-Zidane.”
“That 360 turn from Trent should be counted as his assist this game,” replied another, possibly desperate for some FPL points.
A very enthusiastic supporter posted, “What a 360 turn from Trent despite him being marked. Goodness me that was absolutely beautiful oh my daaaaaaaaays!”
Liverpool’s victory means they are now only four points behind the top four, with rivals Manchester United ahead of them in the race for Champions League football.
However, the Reds only have four games left of their league campaign, whilst Erik ten Hag’s side have two extra games. Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa are both five points behind Liverpool however, so Europa League football looks good for them.
