PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. — Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has been chosen to obtain the Charlie Sifford Award for his work in advancing range in golf.
Curry two years in the past launched “Underrated Golf” that commits to offering fairness, entry and alternative to highschool athletes from all communities. He additionally funded the Howard College golf workforce for six years to assist the traditionally Black faculty compete on the Division I stage. Howard had not had a golf workforce because the Nineteen Seventies.
Curry will obtain the award on the World Golf Corridor of Fame ceremony at Pinehurst, North Carolina, on June 10, the Monday earlier than the U.S. Open.
Sifford was the primary Black participant to develop into a PGA Tour member in 1961. He was inducted into the World Golf Corridor of Fame in 2004. The Charlie Sifford Award was created in 2021 to honor a person who personifies Sifford’s groundbreaking achievements by means of perseverance, confidence, respect, and flexibility.
