Sky’s German outfit reports that Karlsruher SC keeper Marius Gersbeck is on the verge of returning to Hertha BSC.

Newly demoted 2. Bundesliga side Hertha BSC have managed to procure their preferred keeper for the coming campaign. As reported by various German footballing media sources late last month, the capital city’s Charlottenburg side found an economical solution for the position in the form of a €250,000 buyback clause for former net-met Marius Gersbeck.
The 27-year-old KSC professional came up through the Hertha academy ranks and is said to be most enthused about rejoining his hometown club. Gersbeck is, per Sky, still close friends with current Hertha President Kay Bernstein. Sky reports that the former German youth international has already passed his medical and will be unveiled shortly.
As to what will become of the two higher valued keepers presently on the Hertha payroll – Oliver Christensen and Alexander Schwolow – the former has been linked with a move to the Isle whilst a taker for the latter has not yet been found. Christensen, loosely linked with a move to Brighton & Hove Albion, maintains an estimated market worth of €4.5 million in the latest transfermarkt listings.
