Sevilla vs Osasuna Preview
The Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan is the setting for the final game on Sunday in LaLiga. It’s an opportunity for Sevilla to move further clear of trouble whilst edging closer to the European battle. They’ll be confident against an Osasuna side that will have one eye on their cup semi-final this coming week.
Sevilla head into the game after a bit of a scare on Thursday as they lost 2-0 in Eindhoven but still hung on for a 3-2 aggregate win in their Europa League tie. There was an unsavoury incident as Marko Dmitrović was confronted by a home supporter but Sevilla had the last laugh and set up a winnable Last 16 tie against Fenerbahce in the process.
Whether it’s in LaLiga or the Europa League, it’s pretty clear that home results are going to be key to anything Sevilla achieve between now and June. They’ve won five on the bounce in front of their own fans in all competitions with 11 goals scored and just 1 conceded. Their supporters have certainly responded positively to this improved run and it’ll be interesting to see just how far this strong home form can take them this season.
Osasuna are one of those sides who were eyeing up a shot at European qualification, in part because of Sevilla’s collapse from a top four finish last term. They’ll only be 2 points above the Andalusians if they lose this game and defeat would also make it 6 winless league games for the Pamplona side. That would leave them most likely staring at another mid-table finish.
They do at least have the very welcome distraction of a Copa del Rey Semi-Final against local rivals Athletic Club. That commences this coming Wednesday and Jagoba Arrasate may consider resting players here in preparation for the showdown at El Sadar. There are doubts as to what exactly his best XI is in any case, even in goal with Sergio Herrera returning ahead of Aitor Fernandez last weekend.

Possible XI: Bono – Gudelj, Fernando, Nianzou – Acuna, Gueye, Rakitic, Montiel – Ocampos, Suso – En Nesyri (4-2-3-1)

Score Prediction: Sevilla 2-0 Osasuna
Osasuna’s league form has been poor of late and they’ve struggled badly for goals with just 3 in their last 8 matches. Up against a Sevilla side that has improved at both ends of the pitch and is playing well at home, it’s hard to fancy the visitors in this one.
