Serie A: Dimarco sends Inter past Juventus and into Coppa Italia final

Simone Inzaghi‘s Inter side are through to the 2023 Coppa Italia final after their 1-0 second leg win over Juventus – 2-1 on aggregate – and will fight to win the competition for the eighth time.

A Federico Dimarco goal was enough to separate the two sides and see Inter come out victorious over a Juventus side with little to offer in front of goal.

Inter are through to the final and will fight for their eighth Coppa Italia against the winner of the Fiorentina vs Cremonese tie which ended 2-0 to Fiorentina in the first leg.

A toothless Juventus attack

Inter started the match well as Barella dominated the midfield with a display of masterful passing to forwards Lautaro Martinez and Edin Dzeko who failed to take advantage.

The Italian midfielder threaded a wonderfully-weighted pass to Dimarco that Real Madrid midfield maestro Luka Modric himself would have been proud of.

Dimarco received the ball to his feet and fired past Juventus goalkeeper Perin to put the hosts in the lead.

Despite a brief slump after Inter broke the deadlock, the Nerazzurri continued to press a Juventus team that lacked ideas as Lautaro Martinez threatened the Bianconeri goal with a series of close chances.

Juventus struggled to mount any attacking threat in the first half, managing just one shot on target, from two attempts, as Inter entered the interval 1-0 up.

In the second half, Massimiliano Allegri looked to change the system, introducing Milik and Kostic to the field with the objective of propelling Juventus‘ attacking threat.

Yet the Vecchia Signora failed to trouble an Inter side that was well-drilled both defensively and offensively, proving to be the better team in all departments on the night, dominating the game.
