Sabalenka Units Muchova Rematch in Cincinnati SF

Aryna Sabalenka goals to rise to her maiden Cincinnati remaining—and avenge a painful French Open fall.

Sabalenka slammed a 119 mph ace as a strong exclamation level to a declarative 7-5, 6-3 win over a hobbled Ons Jabeur in tonight’s Western & Southern Open quarterfinals.

Staring down match level and a 2-5 deficit to Sabalenka within the Roland Garros semifinals final June, Muchova fired a forehand winner to avoid wasting match level and spark an inconceivable comeback.

Muchova surged via 20 of the final 24 factors and 5 straight video games, surprising the second-seeded Sabalenka 7-6(5), 6-7(5), 7-5 to battle into her maiden main remaining at Roland Garros.

That collapse denied Sabalenka a shot at world No. 1 Iga Swiatek within the French Open remaining. Sabalenka stated she’s desirous to face Muchova once more.

“Fingers crossed,” Sabalenka stated. “She’s an ideal participant. We had a very nice battle at Roland Garros. She performed unbelievable tennis. It should be an ideal battle and I am actually wanting ahead to semifinals.”
