Rikuya Hoshino wins Qatar Masters for 1st European tour title

DOHA, Qatar — Rikuya Hoshino of Japan captured his first European tour title by capturing 4-under 68 to win the Qatar Masters by a stroke on Sunday.

Hoshino, 27, rolled in a par putt from 5 ft on the 18th gap and punched the air after holding off enjoying companion Ugo Coussaud, who made birdie on the final to complete alone in second place.

Hoshino transferred his success on the Japan Golf Tour, the place he has received six instances, with a victory on the European tour circuit.

“In fact I used to be nervous,” stated the No. 107-ranked Hoshino, who shot 4 rounds within the 60s at Doha Golf Membership, “however I attempted to maintain having fun with it.”

It was Hoshino’s thirty fourth look on the tour and he has already had two runner-up finishes this season, on the Australian Open and the Australian PGA Championship.

He’s the fourth Japanese winner in European tour historical past, after Isao Aoki, Hideki Matsuyama and Ryo Hisatsune.

Hoshino began the ultimate spherical in a share of the lead with Coussaud and Rasmus Hojgaard, the highest-ranked participant within the subject at No. 68. Hojgaard light by capturing 73.
