Report – Grayson Murray to maintain OWGR till after Vacationers

DUBLIN, Ohio — Grayson Murray, who died by suicide on Might 25, will preserve his Official World Golf Rating till after the Vacationers Championship on June 23, a supply advised The Related Press on Tuesday.

Grayson was at No. 61 on the planet this week, and given the rolling two-year components, he might climb again into the highest 60 briefly.

Murray’s rating issues as a result of the OWGR shall be used once more Sunday for the highest 60 gamers not already exempt for subsequent week’s U.S. Open. A type of spots will go to Robert MacIntyre, who went from No. 76 to No. 39 by successful the Canadian Open.

There’s a mathematical probability Murray would transfer again into the highest 60, although it’s unlikely with so many gamers proper behind him who’re on the Memorial.

The OWGR formally mentioned it’s “at the moment discussing how this delicate merchandise might be managed.”

In keeping with an e-mail from the USGA because it pertains to that exemption class, Murray can be faraway from the OWGR checklist used to find out the highest 60, a sign that it might go to No. 61 if that participant is not already within the discipline.

There’s precedent for preserving a golfer within the rankings following a sudden demise; Payne Stewart died in a aircraft crash on Oct. 25, 1999, when he was No. 8 on the planet, and remained ranked for an extra three weeks earlier than his title was eliminated.
