Real Betis vs Getafe Preview
Attention turns to the Benito Villamarin for a 10:00 p.m. kick-off in Seville on Wednesday night. Real Betis can clinch Europa League qualification with a win and that would represent another strong season from Manuel Pellegrini’s side. Getafe meanwhile are badly in need of some points as they battle relegation.
It wasn’t a vintage display from Betis in the derby on Sunday as they struggled to create opportunities against a weakened Sevilla side. Betis fans may have been disappointed by their side’s cautious approach but Pellegrini will feel as though his gameplan worked as his side dug deep and hung on for a 0-0 draw at a noisy Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
That result all but guarantees Betis will finish as the highest ranked side in Sevilla, a significant achievement. To their credit, Betis have found some results during the business end of the campaign despite not always playing brilliantly, with a recent win in Bilbao also key in ensuring they remained firmly on course for European qualification.
As for Getafe, these are pretty dark times and 4 points from 4 games since reappointing Jose Bordalas wasn’t really the return they’d have been hoping for. They’d have really been targeting the weekend home game against bottom club Elche and everything started well with Munir putting them in front very early on. However their joy was short lived as Lucas Boye levelled for an Elche side that was probably worthy of a point.
Bordalas used a back three in that game and still seems a little unsure as to the best formation for a Getafe squad that has undergone some changes since he departed in the summer of 2021. He doesn’t have long to figure it out with only two games after this and everything seems to be heading towards a final weekend decider when they travel to Real Valladolid.

Possible XI: Soria – Gaston, Alderete, Mitrovic, Damian – Alena, Djene, Maksimovic, Iglesias – Unal, Munir (4-4-2)

Score Prediction: Real Betis 1-0 Getafe
The absence of Nabil Fekir in the second half of the season has perhaps pushed Manuel Pellegrini towards a slightly more cautious style of play and it hasn’t always been all action with Betis of late. However they’ve regrouped well from a drop in form and should have enough quality here to break down a Getafe side that is unlikely to take many risks in what’s likely to be a tight game.
