Pakistan’s young fast bowler and Multan Sultans’ pacer, Ihsanullah, has sent out a strong message for India’s Umran Malik. The 20-year-old expressed his desire to break Umran’s record by calling out the latter’s name.
Notably, Umran has impressed the world with his sheer pace and is considered the no. 1 contender to break Shoaib Akhtar‘s fastest delivery record in the international arena. The Jammu-pacer, ever since making his debut for India, has time again showcased his skills and ability. He recently surpassed Jasprit Bumrah to register the fastest ball by an Indian bowler. Umran achieved the feat in a One Day International (ODI) against Sri Lanka early this year, recording 156kph in the game.
On the other hand, Ihsanullah is yet to make his international debut. He, however, represented Karachi Kings in the previous season of the Pakistan Premier League (PSL) but bowled just one over and was ruled out from the tournament due to an injury.
Making a comeback in the 2023 PSL season, Ihsanullah caught the attention of cricket enthusiasts when he registered impressive figures of 5/12 in his quota of four overs against Quetta Gladiators. Among the five scalps he picked included the wicket of Sarfaraz Ahmed, whom he dismissed off a 150kph+ delivery.
Following his sensational performance, now as quoted by Hindustan Times, Ihsanullah sent out a strong message for Umran and expressed his desire to break the latter’s record. He further added that he intends to bowl 160kph.
“Inshallah, koshish karunga. Umran Malik ne jo 157 kph pe ball kiya hai, main koshish karunga uss se upar karunga. Umran Malik se upar karunga, 160 karunga. (God willing, I will try. Umran Malik had recorded 157 kph, I will try to break his record. I will be aiming for the 160kph mark),” the youngster was quoted saying by the Hindustan Times.
