Carlos Alcaraz won on his debut and solidified his spot atop the ATP rankings after Rome, while Novak Djokovic and Iga Swiatek each moved their title defense further along.
1 – Carlos Alcaraz will begin his third stint at No.1 after Rome, commencing his 23rd week at No.1. The 20-year-old defeated Albert Ramos-Vinolas 6-4, 6-1 on his Rome debut. The Spaniard can expand his lead over Novak Djokovic with each victory he earns at Rome, but Djokovic is still alive and will aim to keep things close.
Alcaraz will be the No.1 seed at Roland-Garros as well.

2 – Iga Swiatek has dropped just two games in two matches to reach the round of in Rome. The Pole stretched her winning streak to 13 as she double-bageled Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the first round then defeated Lesia Tsurenko 6-2, 6-0 on Sunday. Next up? Either Liudmila Samsonova or Donna Vekic…
200 – Borna Coric notched his 200th win in style on a rainy Saturday at the Foro Italico. The Croatian defeated Thiago Monteiro, 4-6 7-6(8) 7-6(5) to book a third round clash with Roberto Carballes Baena.
Coric improves to 200-165 lifetime with the win.
100 – World No.100 Camila Osorio notched her biggest career win by ranking, knocking off fifth-seeded World No.4 Caroline Garcia, 6-4 6-4 to reach the round of 16 and set a clash with Beatriz Haddad Maia. The Colombian reaches the round of 16 at a WTA 1000 event for the first time in her career.
1 – Match point saved by China’s Wang Xiyu, who edged Taylor Townsend 6-2, 0-6, 7-5 to reach the round of 16 at Rome. The World No.75 has won five of her last six on clay and notched three Top 50 wins since Madrid.

66-10 – Six-time champion Novak Djokovic battled past Grigor Dimitrov in three sets to reach the round of 16.
The defending champion is making his 17th appearance at Rome, and he stretched his current winning streak to seven at at the Foro Italico. Djokovic, who will face Cameron Norrie or Marton Fucsovics next, has never failed to reach the quarterfinals at Rome.
The Serb earns his 1050th ATP win (fifth most all time) and increases his winning streak over Dimitrov to nine.

16 – Number of consecutive points lost by Jelena Ostapenko during her third-round match with Barbora Krejcikova in the opening set. No matter, the Latvian would win 28 of 33 points during on boiling-hot stretch (from 6-6 in the first set to 5-0 in the second) as she proceeded to win 11 of the final 12 games against the Czech to win 7-6(2), 6-0.
Ostapenko will face Daria Kasatkina in the round of 16.
1 – Making his fourth appearance at Rome, Daniil Medvedev earns his first victory at the Foro Italico. The Russian took down Emil Ruusuvuori, 6-4, 6-2, to set a third-round clash with Bernabe Zapata Miralles of Spain.
Medvedev currently leads the ATP in match wins in 2023 with 32.
2 – Number of Rome wins notched by Holger Rune. The 20-year-old is into the round of 16 on his Rome debut after defeating Fabio Fognini 6-4, 6-2. Next up? Alexei Popyrin.
10 – Consecutive points won by Casper Ruud in his 6-1, 4-6, 7-6(0) triumph over Alexander Bublik on Court Pietrangeli on Sunday. The fourth-seeded Norwegian stormed to the finish to win a compelling battle with the Kazakh – he will face Laslo Djere next.
