Osasuna vs Celta Vigo Preview
Osasuna and Celta Vigo face off in the Monday night game this week in LaLiga. Both sides claimed impressive wins in their most recent league games and Osasuna have also registered an important cup success since then.
They will travel to Bilbao in a few weeks with a 1-0 lead in their Copa del Rey Semi-Final thanks to Abde Ez’s goal. The Barcelona loanee is enjoying his loan spell at El Sadar and gives this team a bit of spark and real pace in the final third. He was also on target in the 3-2 win at Sevilla in Osasuna’s most recent league game, a surprise outcome given Jagoba Arrasate rested a number of players in preparation for the cup tie.
It was also unexpected given Osasuna’s form prior to that. Aside from their impressive cup run, they’ve offered very little goal threat since the World Cup and were winless in 5 league games heading into the trip to the Sanchez-Pizjuan. Arrasate will be hoping his side can continue to show a bit more in the final third and he should be able to name something close to his best XI here.
Celta Vigo meanwhile are missing a few regulars with Renato Tapia suspended and Oscar Mingueza joining Agustin Marchesin on the sidelines through injury. They were really impressive last time out though without those players, brushing Real Valladolid aside 3-0 at Balaidos with youngster Gabri Veiga adding to his growing reputation with a brace.
Holding onto the 20 year old is going to be a challenge for Celta as bigger clubs are sure to come calling before too long such is the impact he has made this term. He’s now on 8 goals and 3 assists in LaLiga 2022/23 from just 15 starts and that has really eased the burden on Iago Aspas, so long the star and main attacking threat in this Celta side.

Score Prediction: Osasuna 1-1 Celta Vigo
These two sides feel relatively evenly matched with Celta having shown genuine improvement since Carlos Carvalhal took charge to suggest they’ll most likely be competing with Osasuna for a mid-table finish by the time the season ends. Home advantage may make Osasuna slight favourites but the Galicians are playing well enough at both ends to suggest they can get a result.
