Chris O’Connell is having fun with a formidable run at this week’s Adelaide Worldwide.
The Aussie wildcard dismissed world No.48 Alexander Shevchenko in second-round motion immediately at The Drive, producing an nearly flawless efficiency to file a 6-3 6-1 victory.
O’Connell fired 12 aces and didn’t face a break level within the swift 60-minute encounter.
It’s the 29-year-old’s thirteenth profession top-50 win and propels him into his ninth profession ATP quarterfinal.
O’Connell is now set to face world No.29 Sebastian Korda, a finalist in Adelaide final summer time, in his first ATP quarterfinal on house soil.
The Sydneysider is the final remaining Aussie within the males’s singles draw, after compatriots Jordan Thompson and Alex Bolt bowed out within the second spherical.
