Garbine Muguruza has been out of action since early February, taking time away from the game to spend time with friends and family.
The 29-year-old will continue decompressing – she announced on social media that she plans to skip the clay and grass seasons.
“Spending time with family and friends and it has really been healthy and amazing,” the 29-year-old posted on her Instagram. “So I am going to lengthen this period until summer. Therefore I am going to miss the clay and grass season.”

Muguruza, a former Roland-Garros and Wimbledon champion, says she’ll keep fans updated on her next move. The decision comes as a surprise, as the Spaniard excels on both the clay and the grass.
Muguruza has only won five of 18 matches since taking the court at Roland-Garros in 2022. The two-time major champion and former World No.1 has dropped to No.132 in the WTA rankings.
