Marcus Rashford’s Man Utd contract talks receive boost as David Ornstein drops update on negotiations

David Ornstein has provided an update on Marcus Rashford’s ongoing contract negotiations with Manchester United, and it’s good news for Red Devils supporters.

Rashford has been in sensational form for United this season, particularly since returning from the World Cup in Qatar.

The 25-year-old has managed a remarkable return of 24 goals in 36 appearances in all competitions.

United are understandably keen to tie Rashford down to a new long-term deal but are yet to convince him to commit his future to the club.

The striker was out of contract at the end of the season but in December the club triggered a 12-month extension clause in his deal that will now keep him at Old Trafford until at least 2024.

However, talks are ongoing over an improved long-term contract for the forward.

Ornstein drops Rashford contract update

However, transfer expert David Ornstein insists this is not the case.

“The discussions over United’s sale will not be an impediment to negotiations with Rashford, who is deemed integral to the club’s future prospects on the field,” Ornstein wrote in The Athletic.

“The 25-year-old is an Old Trafford academy graduate and is seen as having the potential to become one of the club’s greatest-ever strikers, even potentially challenging Wayne Rooney as their all-time leading goalscorer.

“It is still unclear if a new deal will be signed but United’s intention is to reach an agreement, with manager Ten Hag saying yesterday that securing Rashford’s future was a ‘priority’ for the club.”

According to the Daily Star, European giants Paris-Saint Germain and Real Madrid are interested in signing the England international.

However, United are said to be hopeful that Rashford will put pen to paper on a new deal, with the striker reportedly offered terms of around £300,000 per week to remain at Old Trafford.
