Man City manager Pep Guardiola makes acting debut in latest episode of Ted Lasso

It’s fair to say season three of hit TV series Ted Lasso has peaked after Pep Guardiola made his highly-anticipated acting debut alongside Jason Sudeikis.

The title-winning Manchester City manager featured in season three, episode 11 of the US comedy-drama – shortly after a 2-0 defeat to fictional side AFC Richmond at the Etihad.

Speaking to Lasso on the touchline, Guardiola congratulates his fellow manager on a “good game”. Lasso then responds: “I gotta be honest with ya, you’re a tough guy to beat, man.”

What follows is an acting masterclass that will no doubt be nominated for a host of awards at next year’s Oscars. [You think I’m joking?]

How good was that? After a trademark smirk, Guardiola replies: “Nah, don’t worry about the wins or losses. Just help these guys be the best version of themselves on and off the pitch. This, at the end, is the most important thing.”

Soon after the scene, Pep is reunited with AFC Richmond forward Jamie Tart, who played for City before joining Roy Kent and Dani Rojas at ‘The Dog Track’.

Here’s how fans on social media reacted to Guardiola’s cameo appearance in Ted Lasso.

One said: “Pep deserves an Emmy for this,” while another wrote: “Bro wins the Premier League with three games spare, gets into an FA Cup and Champions League final, and still has time to complete a side quest. Different breed.”

A third commented: “Officially the greatest show of all time no cap.”

A fourth added: “Ted Lasso has won more games against Pep Guardiola this season than Mikel Arteta.”

Jason Sudeikis, who plays Ted Lasso, believes the series has helped Premier League teams perform better.

“More often than not we’ve heard back [about the series] from the coaches, which is even more flattering because they could think that I was taking the p*** as they say over there,” he told AP.

“And the fact they’ve embraced it and some feel influenced and inspired by [it] is really flattering. And that’s as shocking to me as any hope that people get from our fun little comedy show.”

Thoughts on Guardiola’s acting cameo on the touchline? All we know is, that was definitely not the back of his head.
