Liverpool coaching staff ‘excited’ by 17-year-old talent who could save the club millions this summer

Liverpool are ‘excited’ by the prospect of Scottish winger Ben Doak who has a bright future at Anfield, according to reports.

Jurgen Klopp signed Doak from Celtic last season in a deal worth around £600,000.

He has made four Premier League appearances off the bench since then, indicating Klopp’s intention to integrate him into the first team.

And despite only being 17, he has shown plenty of promise in what little game time he has had this season.

Meanwhile, the likes of Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino are all currently ahead of Doak in the pecking order.

However, The Athletic claim that the Liverpool staff are planning their transfer window with the talented teenager in mind.

Liverpool ‘excited’ by Doak

The report states that Liverpool won’t sign another forward in the summer unless Firmino leaves, as they have high hopes for Doak.

It is thought there is ‘excitement’ at the club surrounding his potential, with his pace and direct style of play having caught the eye of supporters.

Should Firmino reject a new contract, the club may look to invest in another attacker. However, they are cautious to not ‘block Doak’s pathway’.

Firmino is reportedly weighing up his future and is expected to make a decision in the coming weeks.

“Since he started playing with us, he’s our best player, maybe,” the Egyptian told Sky Sports, “Hopefully he stays with that confidence and just keeps going.”
