IPL 2023 [Twitter reactions]: All-round Chennai Super Kings register clinical win against Delhi Capitals

In the 55th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) hosted Delhi Capitals (DC) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Wednesday. CSK produced an all-round show and registered a clinical win to secure the second spot in the points table and further strengthened their chances of making it into the playoffs.

Batting first, the Super Kings posted 167/8 in their 20 overs. Shivam Dube top-scored with 25 runs off just 12 balls, including three sixes. Ruturaj Gaikwad (24), Ambati Rayudu (23), Ravindra Jadeja (21) and MS Dhoni (20) chipped in with valuable contribution in CSKโ€™s competitive total.

In response, the Capitals started their innings on a bad note, losing skipper David Warner for a duck in the very first over. Though Philip Salt and Rilee Rossouw tried to build a partnership, they failed to maintain the required run rate.

Rossouw was the top scorer for Delhi with 35 runs off 37 balls, but his efforts were not enough to chase down the target. In the end, DC managed to score 140/8 in their 20 overs, losing the match by 27 runs.

Matheesha Pathirana was the pick of the CSK bowlers, taking three wickets for 37 runs in his four overs. Deepak Chahar and Ravindra Jadeja also contributed with the ball, taking two and one wicket(s) respectively.
