IND vs AUS: “He Is Going Through A Tough Period”

Rishabh Pant, India’s wicket-keeper batsman, is on the recovery after surviving a serious vehicle accident in late December. The Indian superstar has already ruled himself out of the Indian Premier League in 2023.

The cricketer has also had knee surgery after surviving a horrendous automobile accident and will be out of action for some time. Meanwhile, India’s former captain Sourav Ganguly warned that the player would be sidelined for some time.

Now former BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, who has reportedly joined the Delhi Capitals franchise as director of cricket has stated that Pant is bound to miss IPL 2023.

Ganguly, the Delhi Capitals’ director of cricket, stated that he has spoken with Pant. “I spoke to him a couple of times. Obviously, he is going through a tough period, through injuries and surgeries and I wish him well,” he said to PTI. The former BCCI President added that Pant will be back for India in a year or maybe a couple of year time. “In a year’s time or maybe in a couple of years’ time, he will be back playing for India,” Ganguly added.

“The IPL is still a month away and the season has just started”: Sourav Ganguly

Many reports surfaced in the previous month claiming that Pant could be sidelined for roughly 6 months. Although Pant’s return date is not yet known with certainty, he won’t play in the T20 World Cup in 2024 if he returns in two years, as Ganguly suggested would be the case. In the meantime, Sourav Ganguly discussed how the Delhi Capitals can find Pant’s replacement in the lineup for the IPL 2023.

“We still need a bit of time to figure it out. The next camp starts before IPL. The IPL is still a month away and the season has just started. It is difficult to get all the players together for the amount of cricket they play. There are four or five who are playing Irani Trophy. Sarfaraz has an injured finger and it’s not a broken finger. He should be okay for the IPL,” Sourav Ganguly concluded.

On December 30, while making the route to his home in Roorkee, the 25-year-old was involved in a car accident. He was later sent to a hospital in Dehradun.
