“If You Listen To Whatever MS Dhoni Says, You Will More Often Than Not Perform”- Ajinkya Rahane

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) gave a reality check to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). CSK won the match by 49 runs and outclassed KKR in all the 3 facets of the game. Ajinkya Rahane‘s blistering knock of 71 runs in 29 balls earlier in the match proved to be decisive. Ajinkya Rahane was seen whacking the bowlers all around the park as he smashed 6 fours and 5 sixes.

KKR’s run chase of 236 never took off as they had a poor start as they scored only 38 runs in the power-play overs for the loss of 2 wickets. Jason Roy & Rinku Singh gave a glimmer of hope by smashing half centuries but it wasn’t enough to avoid a huge defeat.

Surprisingly the dew wasn’t there which made life harder for KKR’s batters. CSK’s inexperienced bowling lineup is proving to be dangerous. Akash Singh & Matheesha Pathirana weren’t taken to the cleaners despite the track being a belter as they took 1 wicket each.

It seems as if CSK’s elegant left-handed batter Devon Conway has made a habit of scoring half-centuries for CSK. Devon Conway is proving to be the pillar of CSK’s batting lineup. Shivam Dube too continued his brilliance as he notched a quickfire half-century in 20 balls as he struck 2 fours & 5 sixes.

KKR now are languishing at 8th position on the points table with 5 defeats from 7 matches (*4 points) and have lost 4 on the bounce with an NRR of -0.18. KKR need a quick turnaround if they want to secure a place in the playoffs. CSK on the other hand would be booming with confidence as they have topped the points table with 10 points from 5 matches with an NRR of +0.66.
