How long before the Glazers tell Sheikh Jassim and Jim Ratcliffe about their offers?

Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe submitted offers to takeover Manchester United last month. But when will the club’s owners the Glazers inform the bidders of their decision?

In November the Glazers stunned the football and financial world but announcing they were exploring “strategic alternatives” for the club, which could ultimately result in an outright sale.

And last month British petrochemicals billionaire Ratcliffe and Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim placed revised bids to purchase the club.

News regarding the takeover has since died down, as both prospective buyers await the Glazer family’s sale decision.

But when will the Glazers tell Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim whether their respective bids have been successful?

Glazer’s sale time frame

A fresh Football Insider report claimed that though it is not known when the Glazers will inform the bidders of their decision, the publication’s source has speculated it would be within the next seven days.

However, the same source has claimed that there is also a real possibility that the Glazers could invite another set of offers if their valuation of £6billion is not met.

Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim’s bids are both thought to be world-record bids for a sports team, though believed to be closer to the £5billion mark.

Both parties have stressed they will not be pushed into overpaying for the club.

Of course, there also remains the possibility that the Glazers could choose to retain their stake in the club entirely, while some publications have speculated that Joel and Avram Glazer could use funds from a US investment firm to buy out their other four siblings.

Elliott Management are one of the financial groups believed to be interested in providing capital for a deal, while it is also claimed that Ares Management is in the mix.
