After a long day on the court, Andy Murray took to social media to praise someone who had a shorter day. The Scot, who powered past Alexander Zverev in three hours and three minutes on Wednesday, expressed his admiration succinctly for Iga Swiatek, who needed just 76 minutes to drop Liudmila Samsonova 6-1, 6-0.
His words?
“She is different.”

Credit Swiatek, who was quick to reply and to heap praise onto the 35-year-old three-time Grand Slam champion: And you are a resilience role model and an inspiration on so many levels,” she wrote. “Thank you for everything that you do for this sport.”

In an age where social media tends to get used for snarkiness, we love to see this type of player interaction. Swiatek and Murray once shared an in-depth chat at Indian Wells in 2021, and we’re glad to see the pair of World No.1’s still hitting it off.
