Emerson Jones and Pavle Marinkov are amongst 20 rising Australian gamers competing at an ITF junior match in Victoria this week.

Twenty of Australia’s most promising juniors are competing at an ITF J300 match in Traralgon this week.

Emerson Jones, a 15-year-old from the Gold Coast, and Pavle Marinkov, a 17-year-old from Sydney, lead the Aussie cost on the AGL Loy Yang Traralgon Junior Worldwide.

Jones, at present ranked at a career-high No.9 within the ITF world junior rankings, is the second seed within the ladies’ singles draw.

Marinkov, sitting at a career-high world No.21 within the ITF world junior rankings, is the 14th seed within the boys’ singles competitors.

Maya Joint, one other of Australia’s top-ranked juniors at world No.25, was a late withdrawal after progressing to the ultimate spherical within the Australian Open ladies’s qualifying singles competitors.

A number of standout performers from the current December Showdown have been awarded wildcards, together with reigning 16/u nationwide champions Giselle Guillen and Daniel Jovanovski.

Cruz Hewitt, the son of former world No.1 Lleyton Hewitt, can also be a wildcard recipient.

The annual match, which runs from 12-17 January, attracts most of the world’s finest juniors who will even compete within the upcoming Australian Open Junior Championships.

Former world No.1s Ash Barty and Roger Federer, together with Nick Kyrgios, are among the high-profile former champions throughout the match’s 31-year historical past.

Entry to the match, held on the Traralgon Tennis Affiliation, is free for spectators.
