One gambler won a huge accumulator, netting themselves over £21,000, after rightly not trusting Liverpool to defeat Crystal Palace.
After what’s been a tough season for Liverpool, some might have thought they were starting to turn things around recently, with wins over Everton and Newcastle United.
Those wins put them within striking distance of the top four and then they took a two goal lead against Real Madrid in the Champions League, and everything was suddenly looking much better.
They were looking to bounce back at the weekend when they headed to south London to take on Palace, the scene of one of their most famous losses, back in 2014, Crystanbul.
It was a big disappointment to fans of Jurgen Klopp’s team but one punter clearly saw the disappointment of the Reds’ season continuing and bailed on his bet.
As per the Sun, the gambler cashed out of a 14 match accumulator on Saturday, after 13 results had come in, before Liverpool kicked off.
The £1 bet would have earned him £121,593.10 if the FA Cup holders had won but by cashing out he won £21,755, and avoided being hugely disappointed.
Burnley beating Huddersfield Town and Manchester City beating Bournemouth would have been seen as the absolute bankers for the punter.
In the Premier League they also had Arsenal defeating Leicester City, Aston Villa overcoming Everton, West Ham overturning their form to win against Nottingham Forest and Javi Gracia being successful in his Leeds United debut over fellow strugglers Southampton.
One rung down on the footballing pyramid, wins for Blackburn Rovers, Reading, Sheffield United, Millwall, West Brom, Bristol City, Luton Town and Norwich City were also needed.
Preston North End nearly ended the chances of a winning acca, when they went behind to Championship strugglers Wigan Athletic.
Ryan Lowe’s side came back to win, with two goals in just four minutes in the second half, and then the punter ran off with his winnings thanks to the cash out button.
