Bayern Munich have been knocked out of the DFB-Pokal after Lucas Höler’s injury-time penalty gave Freiburg a 2-1 quarter-final win at the Allianz Arena.

It was the hosts who drew first blood when Dayot Upamecano headed in Joshua Kimmich’s corner in the 19th minute. But Nicolas Höfler levelled eight minutes later with a stunning strike from distance.

Bayern piled on the pressure to regain the lead and came close when Benjamin Pavard’s header hit the crossbar in the 62nd minute.

But against the run of play, Freiburg snatched victory in stoppage time when Lucas Höler slotted the ball past Yann Sommer from the penalty spot after second-half substitute Jamal Musiala handled in the area.

The sensational win sends Freiburg into the DFB-Pokal semi-finals alongside Eintracht Frankfurt, who beat Union Berlin 2-0 earlier in the evening.
