Sevilla are in a strong position to reach yet another Europa League Quarter Final after beating Fenerbahce 2-0 in the 1st Leg of their Last 16 tie last week. They will still need to negotiate a potentially tough night in Istanbul if they want to progress though and their recent away form suggests this tie is very much still alive.

Goals from Erik Lamela and Joan Jordan in the 2nd Half of last week’s 1st Leg put Sevilla in the box seat, but it was a competitive game with the Turkish side registering more shots on goal. Sevilla backed that up with an arguably more important win at the weekend, as they came from behind to defeat Almeria 2-1 in a relegation six pointer in LaLiga.

They moved all the way up to 13th as a result of that victory but are still only 2 points above the relegation zone. They have another really important game this weekend as they travel to Getafe who are currently in the bottom three, but would leapfrog Sevilla with a win. Jorge Sampaoli will need to balance the desire for European progress with the importance of that match when he picks his eleven here.

Fenerbahce will still believe they can fight their way back into this. They scored 13 times in the group stage with 2+ goals in each of their home games as they topped Group B ahead of French side Rennes.

With the Turkish League currently experiencing widespread postponements, there was no weekend game for Fenerbahce and their upcoming match against Ankaragucu this Sunday has also been called off. That will allow them to prioritise this match and they should be the fresher side having had a whole week off since the 1st Leg.

Score Prediction: Fenerbahce 2-1 Sevilla (Agg: 2-3)

This could be a really tough night for Sevilla who were still pushed hard by PSV in the last round, despite winning the 1st Leg 3-0. With a few defensive selection issues and a poor recent away record, they may well lose this game but could still have a goal in them which may be enough to see them through.
