Erling Haaland named his picks for the two former Manchester City players he would love to have played alongside in Pep Guardiola’s current team.
The City striker has been in phenomenal goalscoring form in his debut season in England after his stunning £51.2m transfer from Borussia Dortmund last summer.
Haaland has scored a remarkable 47 times in 40 appearances across all competitions for City, with the Norwegian powerhouse showing little sign of slowing down.
The 22-year-old Norway international took his Premier League goalscoring tally to 32 in 28 matches, putting him nine clear of Harry Kane in the race for the Golden Boot.
Appearing in City’s TikTok video (watch it above), Haaland was clutching his Player of the Month award when he was asked which ex-City player he wanted in the current team.
“I think I would have to say either [Vincent] Kompany, big legend,” Haaland said.
“I think it would also be funny to play with [Mario] Balotelli. So, one of these two: Balotelli or Kompany would be really nice.”
One fan said in response to his picks: “LOL, would have loved to see Erling and Mario up [top].”
Someone else added: “I feel like Balotelli would reach his full potential with him up top.”
Another wrote: “Imagine Haaland and Balotelli up front in the same team. Would be chaos.”
“Except my father, maybe Zlatan Ibrahimovic,” he said.
Haaland added: “I’d probably have to either say myself as I trust myself a lot.
“If not, there is some good ones, I think I have to say maybe Mario Balotelli because he was maybe the best I’ve ever seen as a penalty taker.
“You remember all the ones he did? Crazy. He was actually a really good one, so maybe me or him.”
