Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has revealed that he expects Luke Shaw to return for their Premier League clash against Liverpool on Sunday.
However, there was no indication that either issue was serious, with the huge clash against the Reds on the horizon.
Speaking prior to the West Ham game, Ten Hag explained: “”One is ill [Sancho], the other [Luke Shaw] is a small injury, I hope it’s not too bad.
“We’ll have to see how it develops to Sunday, but he’s not available for tonight. We know we have good players in the squad and we can replace that.”
Now, the Dutchman has given a fresh update on the status of both players in his pre-Liverpool press conference.
Ten Hag gives Man Utd injury update
Ten Hag explained he expects Shaw to return from injury to face the Reds, and is hopeful that Sancho will recover in time as well.
“Yesterday, Luke Shaw was not available, so we expect him back.
“Sancho was ill, but we have to wait and see how that develops but I think [he could be available] as well.”
Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek remain United’s only long-term absentees, with Anthony Martial also still to return for the Red Devils.
The comebacks of Shaw and Sancho will be a huge boost for Ten Hag, with the former being a critical player in the Dutchman’s system this term.
Sancho, meanwhile, has begun to hit form after an absence of three months from United’s first team, scoring two goals in his last seven appearances since the beginning of February.
