A tearful Dan Evans admitted he was “heartbroken” on the prospect of lacking Wimbledon and the Olympics after struggling a knee damage at Queen’s Membership.
Simply two days after he was named within the Nice Britain squad for Paris 2024, Evans took a nasty fall on the grass in his first-round match on the cinch Championships in opposition to American Brandon Nakashima.
The 34-year-old fears he has broken medial collateral ligaments in his proper knee.
He has needed to pull out of taking part in doubles with Andy Murray at Queen’s this week and can as an alternative bear a scan within the coming days to find out the extent of the damage.
“I’m anxious, little question,” he stated. “I imply, a very good factor, I believed it was my groin. That settled down just about immediately.
“However I feel it’s MCL, kind of a bit inside the knee. There is a matter there, that’s for certain after the testing to date with the physios.
“So I’ve bought to attend 48 hours, let it settle, after which get a scan. I’m anxious, yeah. That’s the underside line, in fact. Yeah, I’m in limbo a bit.
“It’s irritating. If I miss the Olympics or Wimbledon it could be a tricky one to swallow, little question.
“I don’t know. I’m simply, I’m heartbroken on the minute, to be sincere. Yeah, it’s powerful.”
Evans can be because of play doubles with Murray on the Olympics.
Murray stated: “Dan’s clearly a superb doubles participant, so that may be unlucky.
“I don’t know precisely what the scenario is with that, and I’m certain he doesn’t know precisely both till he will get some scans and is a little more clear.”
