CSK vs KKR: “Iconic Moment”: WATCH – Sunil Gavaskar Runs To MS Dhoni To Get His Autograph After The IPL 2023 Game At Chepauk

The 61st game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 took place between MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Nitish Rana-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. It was a disappointing outing for the home side as they suffered a 6-wicket loss.

They displayed a poor batting performance as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals and could manage only 144 runs with Devon Conway (30) and Shivam Dube (48*) doing the bulk of the scoring.

Chasing the target, although lost three quick wickets in Rahmanullah Gurbaz (1), Venkatesh Iyer (9), and Jason Roy (12) early which saw them tumbling at 33/3. But Rinku Singh (54) and Nitish Rana (57*) struck half-centuries to take their side home by 6 wickets and keep their hopes alive for the playoffs.

But after the game, Chennai Super Kings gave their home crowd a lap of honor as it was their last home game of the league stage. The players thanked the fans and came up with special gifts for fans. However, the center of attraction was skipper MS Dhoni.

As MS Dhoni walked around the ground, fans chanted his name loudly. But what caught the attention of many was when batting legend Sunil Gavaskar, who was doing the broadcasting duties, ran to him and asked him for an autograph.

MS Dhoni, however, didn’t shy away as he was then seen giving his signature to Sunil Gavaskar on his shirt. Here’s the video:

CSK vs RR: “I think the dew made a big difference,” says MS Dhoni after the loss

CSK skipper MS Dhoni opened up about the loss his side suffered against KKR. He admitted that his call to bat first was the reason behind their loss as dew made a huge difference in the end. He said they can’t blame anyone for the loss as conditions had a big impact. Speaking at the post-match presentation, he said:

“One of those days when you win the toss and bat first and the moment the first ball was bowled in the second innings, you realise it is a 180 wicket. Batting first I don’t think we could have got anywhere close to 180. I think the dew made a big difference. If you compare the first innings to the second innings, there was a lot more purchase for the spinners in the first innings and that’s what really got to us.

“(Can’t blame anyone for the loss) Yes, I think so. Whenever there is no certainty about dew that is when the decision (at the toss) becomes slightly tricky. And as I said, you win the toss and you bowl first and you realize there is no dew in the second innings, chasing 150 against their spinners could have been tough too. So we can’t really blame any batter or bowler for this loss. They tried their best, but the conditions had a big impact on the game.”

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be next seen in action when they will take on Delhi Capitals (DC) in their next game on Saturday (20th May).
