BMG’s Weigl pursuit faces problems, Beyer’s purchase clause amount confirmed

Marlon Irlbacher of Sky Germany reports that Borussia Mönchengladbach are presently trying to haggle Benfica Lisbon down from a €15 million purchase price for German midfielder Julian Weigl.

BMG sporting director Roland Virkus, meanwhile, publicly confirmed that Jordan Beyer’s purchase clause with loan club Burney F.C. is precisely €15 million.

Schippers cited the club’s recent failed transfer model as one of the reasons that the club has hemorrhaged out nearly €60 million in the last three years, which were obviously also marred by the pandemic. The club has held onto players that could have netted them sizable transfer gains in the hopes that they could compete sportingly. The gamble, Schippers conceded, has failed.
