Herbert Hainer has indicated that Bayern Munich will go for a new forward this summer.

Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has strongly hinted that the club will try to bring in a new number 9 during the summer transfer window.

Asked after tonight’s Champions League exit against Manchester City if Bayern are looking to sign a new striker, Hainer said, as quoted by AZ:

“You can assume that we will strengthen the team so that we can compete for the Champions League again.

“The coach will have a say in that, as will the sporting management. Financially, FC Bayern are very well positioned.”

Hainer also insisted that the decision to replace Julian Nagelsmann with Thomas Tuchel as head coach was “definitely” the right one, even though Bayern have now been knocked out of the DFB-Pokal and the Champions League under Tuchel.

According to the Bayern president, Nagelsmann couldn’t bring the team’s potential “onto the pitch”.
