For the fifth consecutive Grand Slam, two Australians are set to satisfy within the opening spherical of the lads’s singles competitors.

The US Open 2024 singles attracts have been revealed.

Alex de Minaur leads an 12-strong Australian contingent within the males’s singles competitors. That is probably the most Aussie males to characteristic in a US Open singles draw since 1979.

The 25-year-old De Minaur, who’s the highest-seeded Australian man in New York in 19 years, has drawn world No.46 Marcos Giron within the opening spherical. This would be the tenth seed’s first singles match since a hip damage thwarted his Wimbledon marketing campaign final month.

The draw has been kinder for Alexei Popyrin, who’s seeded at a Grand Slam event for the primary time in his profession. The 25-year-old will play Korean Soonwoo Kwon, who has been scuffling with a shoulder damage and solely received two tour-level matches this season.

Rinky Hijikata, who made the fourth spherical at Flushing Meadows final 12 months in a breakout run, begins his 2024 marketing campaign towards Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, a former world No.21 who has twice reached the fourth spherical on the event.

Thanasi Kokkinakis, Chris O’Connell, James Duckworth and qualifier Li Tu all meet seeded opponents within the opening spherical, whereas Max Purcell and Aleksandar Vukic face-off in an all-Australian showdown.

That is the fifth consecutive Grand Slam event to characteristic an all-Australian battle within the opening spherical and the second 12 months in a row that Purcell has been pitted towards a compatriot in New York (final 12 months he misplaced to O’Connell within the first spherical).
