Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, along with Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard have been shortlisted for the 2023 London Football Awards.
The awards show takes place on Monday evening as London’s best talents across all three tiers of English football are recognised for their outstanding contributions.
The Gunners have enjoyed an excellent campaign, rising to the summit of the Premier League table as they spy their first domestic title since 2004.
Who has been nominated?
The pair have 10 league goals a piece, helping to keep the Gunners firing in the absence of first-choice striker Gabriel Jesus.
North London rival Harry Kane is also up for the award, having scored 20 league goals for Tottenham this season. Whilst Brentford’s Ivan Toney and Fulham’s Alexsandar Mitrovic make up the rest of the pack.
Meanwhile, Arteta is in the running for the Manager of the Year award, after just two seasons in charge at the Emirates.
It would be difficult to argue against the Spaniard bringing home the spoils, having established the Gunners as one of Europe’s most exciting sides this season. Brentford’s Thomas Frank and Fulham’s Marco Silva are also shortlisted.
Elsewhere, Arsenal defender William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli are in the contention for the Young Player of the Year. Saliba, only 21, has helped his side to the most clean sheets in the league in just his first season at the club.
Whilst Martinelli is the Gunners’ top scorer in the league this season, having notched 12 goals in an Arsenal shirt.
Aaron Ramsdale, who currently leads the charts for the Premier League Golden Glove, is up for Goalkeeper of the Year, alongside ex-Arsenal shot stopper Bernd Leno, who now plies his trade at Fulham.
