Andrich shocked by timing of first Germany call-up

Going via a troublesome spell at Bayer Leverkusen, Robert Andrich admits his first call-up to the German nationwide workforce got here as a shock.

It has been a superb season for Bayer Leverkusen thus far, however a troublesome one for Robert Andrich, who has struggled for normal enjoying time.


With that in thoughts, the central midfielder was shocked to obtain his first call-up to the German nationwide workforce from new coach Julian Nagelsmann.

“The timing was very stunning for me, as a result of issues have been going higher and higher for me personally during the last 5 years, and I am simply not that happy in the mean time,” Andrich advised DPA at Germany’s camp in the USA.

However, he was comfortable to obtain the decision from Nagelsmann and added confidently:

“I feel I’ve earned it through the years.”

Up to now, the 29-year-old is having fun with his time in the USA.


“For me personally, I can go away the negativity at residence a bit of bit and sit up for this unimaginable expertise right here within the U.S. and with the DFB, soak all of it in, knock it out and simply do my finest,” Andrich stated.

“There isn’t any room for negativity.”

Andrich might make his Germany debut towards the USA this Saturday.
