A Milestone for Harmanpreet Kaur as Team India Take on Ireland

Harmanpreet Kaur has become the only cricketer, across men and women’s cricket to feature in 150 T20 International games. On Monday as she walked out as the captain of Indian women’s cricket team in the team’s final group match against Ireland Women in the Women’s T20 World Cup, Kaur instantly became part of history.

Another record for Harmanpreeet Kaur

Kaur played her 149th T20I match against England Women on Sunday and went past Rohit Sharma who used to hold the record for most appearances in the shortest format of the game. Today she is playing her 150th T20I against Ireland Women in South Africa. BCCI took to Twitter to share the news, “???? Milestone Alert ???? First woman cricketer to play 1⃣5⃣0⃣ T20Is ???? ???? Congratulations to #TeamIndia captain @ImHarmanpreet on a special landmark ???? ???? #INDvIRE | #T20WorldCup”.

India Take on Ireland

Meanwhile India Women won the toss and elected to bat first against Ireland Women in their last group match in the ongoing ICC T20I Women’s World Cup 2022. Winning the toss, Kaur said, “We are going to bat first. Looks a hard and dry surface. Many of us haven’t got that many runs, we need to express ourselves. Devika is playing in place of Radha. It (playing 150 T20I games) means a lot, I got an emotional message from my team-mates. Thanks to BCCI and ICC, we are able to play so many games.”

India Women have secured two wins out of three so far in the tournament. If the beat Ireland Women in today’s game, they will be able to secure a place in the semifinals. In case they lose the match, a lot will depend other results.
