Bochum are indeed headed to Berlin to play Hertha BSC next week. A win against their direct relegation rivals would also translate to another season of Bundesliga football.
After the 3-2 win over FC Augsburg, VfL skipper Anthony Losilla and opening goal-scorer Christopher Antwi-Adjei offered their thoughts.
The Bochum players will certainly be keeping a close eye on the early Sunday kickoff tomorrow. The minds of the 1848ers will nevertheless be a tad more focused on next week’s trip to Berlin for the season’s penultimate matchday. Hertha’s loss to 1. FC Köln last night, combined with today’s win, means that the VfL can even seal Hertha’s direct relegation and potentially celebrate their own class preservation.
VfL skipper Anthony Losilla and opening goal-scorer Christopher Antwi-Adjei first commented on the day’s victory. Antwi-Adjei credited his teammates with “throwing everything into it”. Losilla acknowledged that “not everything was perfect”, but noted that everyone was relieved with the points.
When it came time to discuss the coming trip, Losilla conceded that it would be tough.
“If everyone does their part, we can beat anyone,” the captain noted, “If we fight like this, we can get the points. It will be a fierce game [at Berlin], but in the end we can accomplish something big.”
“What’s going on here is outstanding,” Antwi-Adjei added, “Everyone has hope again.”
