The wife of Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has uploaded a social media post which shows the midfielder alongside a protective boot and crutches.
Fernandes was forced off during extra time in the FA Cup semi-final against Brighton on Sunday, which United won via a penalty shootout.
The Portugal international played no part in those proceedings, having been unable to complete the match due to an ankle injury.
The problem occurred in the first half of the match, and ESPN reported that discussions were held on the bench at the time over whether to substitute him.
But Fernandes remained on the pitch for the full 90 minutes, and will no doubt have understandably been disappointed when Erik ten Hag eventually made the call to remove him from the action.
Now, a fresh concern has been raised over the extent of the injury.

Taking to Instagram, the player’s wife, Ana Pinho, posted an image of Fernandes wearing protection around his ankle and foot, alongside a ‘recharging’ emoji.
Two leg splints and a pair of crutches can also be seen next to the United star, with the club yet to confirm the extent of the injury or whether he will feature in Thursday’s clash against Tottenham. Ten Hag did not comment on the injury after United’s penalty shootout victory at Wembley.
ESPN claim that Fernandes was due to be assessed on Monday, with his participation in the fixture seemingly dependent on the outcome of those tests.
Any absence would be a major blow for United, who are looking to secure victory in that fixture to strengthen their hopes of finishing in the top four and ensuring Champions League qualification for next season.
